About Warren Buck

I’m Warren Buck, an educator and college admissions coach who helps families navigate the college process with clarity, realism, and far less stress.

I founded Future Finders to support families who want thoughtful guidance around college fit, affordability, and long-term student success, but without pressure, prestige chasing, or fear-based decision making. My work focuses on helping students build confidence and professional skills while helping parents feel informed and supported.

Why I do this work

I didn’t begin my career in education. I started as a chef, working hard and finding success, but feeling deeply unfulfilled. After a life-changing car accident, I returned to school with the goal of becoming a teacher.

From my first day in the classroom, I knew I was in the right place.

That path led me to become award-winning teacher and principal to a fellowship at Harvard University and national nonprofit leadership focused on helping young people plan for meaningful futures.

Future Finders is the natural extension of that work.

How I think about college admissions

College admissions today is more complex and far more expensive than it was for most parents.

But it is manageable with the right guidance.

I believe families do best when they focus on fit, affordability, and a clear plan.

When students are taught how to plan, reflect on their strengths, communicate effectively, and make informed decisions, they are better prepared not just for admission, but for college itself.

Experience that informs the work

My approach is shaped by decades inside education systems, not just around them.

I’ve served as a classroom teacher, school principal, national nonprofit leader, and Harvard fellow,

and I’m the author of College Admissions for Overwhelmed Parents.

That experience allows me to guide families with a practical, grounded understanding of how students learn and how schools actually operate.

What it’s like
to work together

Students often tell me I make this process feel easier and help them feel more confident than they expected.

I take a strengths-based approach and treat teenagers like capable young adults.

Parents appreciate that I reduce stress at home.

work directly with students while keeping parents informed and involved in ways that support independence rather than create tension.

Being a neutral third party, especially when students have started tuning out their parents—is one of my biggest strengths.

Is Future Finders a good fit?

Families who work well with me tend to be realistic about their student’s strengths, open to honest conversations about cost, and willing to prioritize fit over prestige.

Families who are highly prestige-focused or unwilling to be realistic about finances may find this approach less comfortable. My work is about thoughtful decision making, not chasing names.
